Coming upon Insession MA v. Odgren

The jurors will be challenged to decide whether 19-year-old John Odgren, then a 16-year-old special needs student, was insane at the time he killed a 15-year-old student, James F. Alenson, with a carving knife in a bathroom at Lincoln-Sudbury High School in 2007. Though Odgren was a juvenile at the time of the killing he will be tried and sentenced as an adult. The victim was James F. Alenson, a freshman, and only 15 yrs old. He was said to be an A-student who tried to avoid trouble.
The defense will give evidence that John Odgren’s suffered a severe and lifelong mental illness. John Odgren was long ago diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, an autism-like disorder, plus attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression and anxiety.
