Coming upon Insession MA v. Odgren

The jurors will be challenged to decide whether 19-year-old John Odgren, then a 16-year-old special needs student, was insane at the time he killed a 15-year-old student, James F. Alenson, with a carving knife in a bathroom at Lincoln-Sudbury High School in 2007. Though Odgren was a juvenile at the time of the killing he will be tried and sentenced as an adult. The victim was James F. Alenson, a freshman, and only 15 yrs old. He was said to be an A-student who tried to avoid trouble.

The defense will give evidence that John Odgren’s suffered a severe and lifelong mental illness. John Odgren was long ago diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, an autism-like disorder, plus attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression and anxiety. After less than an hour of deliberations jurors agreed on the verdict of not guilty for former World Series hero Jim Leyritz on the charge of manslaughter. The charge of DUI would not be so easy to reach a decision they all agreed on. One female juror held out against the other five male jurors, wanting a full acquittal. Finally she gave in and the verdict Guilty of misdemeanor DUI for former World Series hero Jim Leyritz was announced. Leyritz, was charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence after a car collision in 2007 killed 30-year-old Fredia Veitch.

During the jury picking commission for the Elizabeth Smart upcoming trial, the defendant BrianDavid Mitchell, was separated from the room following a melodic outburst, ordered of the honorable Dale Kimball. Brian David Mitchell and his accomplice, wife Wanda Eileen Barzee, are finally standing trial for kidnapping Elizabeth Smart .Caught in 2003, the impending trial has been postponed by an abundant series of legal entanglements, some stemming from efforts to get Brian David Mitchelldetermined too mentally unsound to stand trial.

During yesterday's commencement of picking the jury Brian David Mitchell began vocalizing hymns for some 30 minutes until the honorable Kimball had had enough and ordered Brian David Mitchell separated to a different room.
